What Is A Point?

A point is assessed after being convicted of a moving violation in Texas.  It is actually better to describe it as “points.”  Each moving violation accumulates 2 points after being reported as a conviction.  Other more serious violations are considered 3 point violations.  Each driver is only allowed 6 points over a 3 year period.  Therefore, if you get convicted of 2 serious moving violations over a 3 year period you are subject to a license suspension for up to a year.
